Stepping Ahead

So lately, I been having a few set backs, but a few forwards. Since we're not exactly having much of Spring weather yet, Any sessions I'd like to do have been on hold until we actually see the sun without the rain or snow flurries lol. So this is setting me back just a little.

It's alright though! Moving forward, I was able to purchase my portable backdrop holder. No backdrops yet, but I'm learning to take it slow. I still need to work on backdrops and lighting, but it's going to be just one thing at a time.

I  been working on reaching out to local businesses near where I live to see if I'd be able to possibly go there one day a week just for a couple of hours to try and sell some prints. So far, no yes's yet but i'm still hoping.

A couple days ago, I learned how to take the bus to the next town down which was fun. Once I got up, I ended up walking for a good two hours. Ended up visiting my brother and his girlfriend lol. (Was an adventureous moment).

I still am promoting my Etsy Shop, fixing a few oops and updating things from time to time. I'm hoping soon I will be able to add more to my shop. :)

Hoping that the spring weather (If it ever decides to come here) Will help me get out of this mini funk. Between the weather, and the cold, I'm doing what I can to make everything work, to try and plan things out. I worked hard and finally I have set prices to even be able to offer for photo sessions. I'm sure they'll probably change down the road as I am still learning but i'm going.   I have been working on my website (Yes again) to change up my portfolio and add the pricing to it. If you'd like to check it out you can anytime! trishasphotography.com

I hope everyone has been having a wonderful Spring break. Those who are with me on the icky weather lately, I hope we all can soon enough enjoy the beautiful sunshine and warmer weather! Thank You all <3

Happy World Autism Awareness Day, Somethings I'd like to share more on personal level of my heart His

Today starts off the World Awareness Day as well as the whole month of April. First I'd love to give a huge shout out to all the parents/guardians of kids who are on the spectrum. You are doing A GREAT JOB. To All the individuals out there who are on the spectrum, adult or child, I just wanted to say you are all AMAZING individuals and I thank and every single one of you for being who you are.

I also want to give lots of blessings and credits to the Teachers, Aids, Therapists and services that has worked so hard with our children and adults. I personally wouldn't know what to do if it wasn't for my son's teachers and his team of professionals at his school that help him and guide him at school.

April may be an Autism month for many, but also for many, Autism Awareness is 365 days a year.

I know some of my friends and readers here know I have a wonderful son who has Autism. I don't normally bring him out on topic of Autism, but today, I really want to share with you how great he is and how much he amazes me, even through the struggles.

My Son Richy

My son was diagnosed when he was 4 yrs. old. I honestly never knew much about Autism until the day he visited a pediatric developmental specialist that was referred by his pediatrician.  At the age of 4, Majority of his verbal or communication was using only single words. If  he wanted something, He'd point.. and say it.  He could not read or write. He didn't really grasp comprehension on things like Holidays or events that may be going on. But you want to know something? He is one of the happiest little boys, I have ever seen.

He receives Speech and Occupational therapies along with a behavior intervention program in school and has been for the past few years now. He is almost 7 yrs old now and I am so so PROUD of him each and every single day.  He may not be able to write that well, but the fact he is progressing is amazing. His speech has grown. He now speaks up to 5 words in a single sentence. Instead of saying (for an example), Milk..    He'll say (Cup milk please). He says thank you's and welcomes. He says I'm sorry. He talks more. He can read site words now and he reads them very proudly. We still have our struggles, but we are progressing. He is a Happy Boy. We may not be able to hold a conversation. Like if I ask him how his day was at school, He is unable to conversate and tell me about his day, but I am staying positive, that one day he will. :)

He may have weak points, but everyone does. So let me share somethings he is great with. For starters, his memory. He can put a toy some where that it doesn't belong and leave it there for a week and still know where it is a week later. I have a hard time remembering in a single day where I placed something lol. He remembers words and songs on tv. Show him Toy Story 1,2 or 3 and he memorizes the sounds in them and when they happen lol.  Dancing and music, He LOVES LOVES to dance. He learns dance moves pretty quickly. He likes to use his mouth to make music beats. Even his teachers told me one of his greatest parts of school is Music class. He loves Flags probably more than any thing else.

Despite the things we work on, and things that may be a struggle, My son amazes me every day. He loves to give hugs, he shows concern for others. He has such a silly and loveable personality with a style of sense of humor. He loves making others laugh. He does some of the silliest things. He has always been such a happy boy. Sure we have off days, especially when things change in a routine, We have tantrums, we have meltdowns but I wouldn't trade him for the world because he is my world and I feel so blessed being his mommy.  His personality is who he is. Autism may be a part of him, but it doesn't justify who he is as a person.

Thank You all for who has read my sons story. Autism Awareness to me is about sharing Autism acceptance with others. Each individual with Autism are unique and different in their own ways. To those parents who live with Autism every day, I know it's not easy. I know it takes a lot but please know that everything you do for them, You are all super heroes and advocates! Pat yourself on the back and just remember... You all rock! Now.. Lets take this month and CELEBRATE how far we all have come!

Please enjoy my son's dancing video and I hope I have made many smile!
